Krista Parada

About the Artist

Krista Parada was born and raised in the city of Pomona, California. She is a freelance artist and muralist located in the Los Angeles area, who's work is heavily influenced by her deep rooted pride for her Chicanx culture.  A lot of her work is a mixture of indigenous images, urban elements, and a strong female presence all while representing her Chicanx identity.

From her initial gallery showing, Krista has made it a point to showcase her love of her heritage. She grew up being inspired by artist of the new and old world. Such artist as Frida Kahlo, Johannes Vermeer, Pablo Picasso, Diego Rivera, Leonardo da Vinci, Judithe Hernández, and so many more. Krista loves to input her love of fine art with symbolic elements and elements of Pre-Colombian style . She also incorporates elements of her upbringing in her work, as well as life altering events that have affected her life. Her art is personal and at times very vulnerable as she incorporates her struggle with her self-identity, heart break, poverty, death, growth, love, sexuality, and the struggle of being a woman of color.

Krista's objective is to share pride in self discovery, a pride in culture, and a appreciation of culture. She aims to influence younger generations, particularly children of color, as she wants them to understand that even though the odds may be against us, you can overcome obstacles without loosing your culture and history.

Her art is ever evolving as she. Krista aspires to continue to shed light on topics that need addressing. Spreading love, strength, and wisdom all while creating beautiful works of art. This is an artist to keep an eye out for.
